Distinct from the Ecclesial Beta Testing section, here are my more informal thoughts on the church and theology in a Post-Christian era. My goal is for this to have at least monthly posts, though life happens. Sometimes an idea that begins here might be developed into something more formal later, especially if there is interest for it.

- Death & ResurrectionI have a funeral today. This funeral got me thinking about death, resurrection, and the numerous ways we experience both throughout our lives.
- “Post”sThere’s two words I’ve used pretty often around here: “Post-Christian” and “Post-Christendom”. They are two related words, but I think it’s helpful to spell out the difference between the two and when I try to use each.
- Socially StatedSo, I have a frustration, and I’m not going to make you wonder what it is: I don’t like “social statement” Christianity. Maybe once upon a time it had a purpose, but I think in a Post-Christian era that time has mostly passed on.
- Independence DayAs this posts goes live, it is July 4, 2026—the 250th anniversary of the issuance of the Declaration of Independence, and the day we in the United States of America celebrate the beginning of our nation’s existence. And today, I’m going to write a bit about a problem we’re facing, one that dresses nice and looks presentable and may even have some tempting notions, but ultimately one that is quite problematic: Christian Nationalism.
- Eating & Drinking TogetherFor most of the folk who would appear on my website, today is just a Thursday. But for our Catholic siblings it is a feast day: the Feast of Corpus Christi. For Protestants, who on the whole do not take a literalist interpretation of Jesus’s presence in Holy Communion, it’s a feast day we don’t remember. Maybe we should though, because it’s also a day to remember one of the most important aspects of Christianity: the new community we are in Christ.
